Cataract Surgery

Cataract called as ‘Motibindu’ in Nepali is the cloudiness of the lens inside the eye and causes blurred and foggy vision that leads to difficulty in face recognition, driving and seeing distance at far. Cataract surgery is one of the biggest highlights of our center. We take pride in being one of the few centers that perform surgery under topical (eyedrops) anesthesia (without numbing the whole eye) using the latest phacoemulsification machine in Nepal. Patients can resume their normal work the next day after the surgery and don’t need any special eye pads. Our surgeons are highly qualified in this technique having performed thousands of such surgeries at our different branches. In addition, our cataract surgeons regularly visit national and international eye hospitals to provide phacoemulsification training. Vision Therapy / Amlyopia Therapy

Our binocular vision clinic deals with a comprehensive eye examination and non-surgical management of:

Neuro Ophthalmology Service

Neuroophthalmology services at our center include the assessment and management of neurological anomalies of the eye and the visual system. The problems in the brain may sometime manifested in eye for the first time and need prompt and proper attention to prevent from fatality and morbidity. All the patients having trauma in the head in RTA, or having a severe headache with vomiting, undergoing treatment for Tuberculosis, or diagnosed with any brain tumour need complete ophthalmological examination. We provide all of the comprehensive services in the best manner within our hospital. Some of the services include treatment for – blepharospasm (frequent involuntary movement of face muscles) and optic neuritis (inflammation of the eye nerve).

Pediatric Clinic

The pediatric clinic at our center involves expert clinicians to assess, diagnose and treat all kinds of childhood eye and vision problems such as amblyopia (lazy eye), refractive errors (need for eyeglasses), squint (deviated eyes) and congenital ocular anomalies. Our clinicians are up-to-date with the latest developments in treating childhood vision problems and adhere to the evidence-based practice guidelines. Our pediatric clinic is child-friendly with toys and colorful cartoon paintings so that children won’t get bored while waiting for ocular evaluation. Our clinicians can detect ocular and vision problems in children as young as newborns. Child visual system is vulnerable to maldevelopment due to poor and uncoordinated use. In if not diagnosed and treated at the appropriate time, treatment becomes difficult at a later stage. Hence with the moto that no one child goes needlessly blind, we have come up with a slogan ‘Aankha Jachau, school Jau’. Cornea and External Eye Diseases Clinic

Cornea (called as “Bahiri Naani” in Nepali)  is the anteriormost part and the most transparent part of the eyeball. There are numerous conditions and diseases of the cornea that needs special attention by cornea specialists. Various types of medical and surgical treatments for corneal and extraocular diseases are provided within our center. Our cornea clinicians have received a fellowship from the world’s highest-ranked eye hospitals. Uveitis Clinic

Uveitis service at our center involves expert diagnosis and treatment of intraocular inflammation with the use of extensive laboratory investigations including Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) analysis, advanced ocular imaging techniques procedures such as Fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Optical Coherence Tomography with angiography (OCTA).  We are the first eye care center in Nepal to incorporate PCR in diagnostic procedures which help to identify the exact infectious etiology of uveitis. Our clinicians have received uveitis fellowship under the direct supervision of eminent uveitis specialist at one of South Asia’s best eye hospitals (Sankara Nethralaya, India). Since this disease is closely associated with arthritis, rheumatic disorders, collagen vascular disorders, skin diseases and thyroid disorders, we aim to identify its systemic association, complete diagnosis and treatment to the uveitis patients.
